Year 5 Residential to Oaker Wood

The Year 5 residential trip to Oaker Wood on Wednesday 21st March has been postponed until the first week after the Easter holidays due to the weather and safety reasons. Please see letter below for further information. The children have been told today.

Dear parents/carers,

We have been in consultation with David at Oaker Wood this morning and have made the difficult decision to postpone the trip until the first week after the Easter holidays. The new dates of the trip will be Wednesday 18th to Friday 20th April. All other elements of the trip will be exactly the same.

We have based this decision on the current situation of the environment at Oaker Wood as well as the weather forecast for the remainder of the week. There is still significant snow on site and due to it being a wooded area; it will take some time to melt. David has also shared that it is very slushy and icy, therefore, some of the activities would need to be adapted for safety reasons.

We want the children to have the very best experience possible and the current weather situation may have a detriment on this. We know some of the children will be initially disappointed, but the trip will soon be upon us and hopefully by then they will be well-rested and full of enthusiasm!

Due to lunch orders already being placed, the children will all need a packed lunch for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week.

We have shared this information with the children this afternoon and answered any of their questions. However, should you have any questions yourself then please do not hesitate to get in contact with either myself or Mr Swaine.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs R Napolitano

Deputy Headteacher
