Wall mural competition- children across the school had great fun designing some Matisse inspired wall mural designs for our playground wall.

Art at Hampton Dene

At Hampton Dene Primary School, we encourage children to think creatively, using their own ideas and inspiration from the world around them. We also aim for our children to approach Art with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude.

KS1 children will: Show a positive and enthusiastic attitude to the arts, be willing to take part in activities and express themselves freely within them, through:

  • Producing creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
  • Become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
  • Evaluating and analysing creative works using the language of art, craft and design
  • Knowing about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art form

KS2 Children will: Show a positive, open minded and enthusiastic attitude to the arts, be willing to take part in activities and express themselves freely within them. Additionally, children will be able to share their inspirations and ideas, and reflect upon how they could improve their work. Children will achieve this through:

  • Producing creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
  • Becoming proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
  • Evaluating and analysing creative works using the language of art, craft and design

  • Knowing about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art form
