Forest School

 

 

Welcome to Hampton Dene's Forest School

 

Forest School has many benefits, not only in supporting children's knowledge and understanding of the world but promoting self-esteem, confidence and physical development.  Forest School offers countless opportunities to succeed and promotes life-long learning skills.

 

At Hampton Dene Primary School we are fortunate to have our very own Forest School site, full of  well established trees, perfect for exploring. The site offers a super environment for varying flora and fauna to thrive, much like a traditional woodland just much smaller. 

 

We schedule sessions throughout the year to observe the differences in each season, ensuring we allow the site time to 'rest' during certain times to encourage sustainability. Each session is child-led and offers free choice activities known as 'small achievable tasks', these encourage the children to 'have a go' and feel a sense of self-fulfilment. Alongside these activities we provide a main focus, adult-led activity this includes things like tool safety, construction,  fire use and bird watching.
