RE

At Hampton Dene we follow the Herefordshire Agreed Syllabus for R.E. This has been created by SACRE and approved by Herefordshire Council. It provides a syllabus for Religious Education for Herefordshire schools.

The Principle Aim

The principal aim of R.E. is to engage pupils in systematic enquiry into significant human questions which religion and world wide views address, so that they can develop the understanding and skills needed to appreciate and appraise varied responses to these questions, as well as develop responses of their own.

The syllabus

  • outlines legal requirements for R.E.
  • refines the principal aim for R.E, clarifying the purpose of the subject
  • outlines the breadth of study, indicating which religions should be taught and when
  • offers key question at the heart of the syllabus, built around strands, "Believing, Expressing, Living."
  • offers schools the flexibility to devise their own key questions, liked to assessment outcomes
  • offers an outline of knowledge/content as a guide for teachers
