So far, we have begun our history enquiry asking: What was the impact of the Romans on Britain? and have already explored where the Roman Empire came from and compared legends and facts for the founding of Rome.
See the picrtures of the class representing how the internet is a network of networks as they send a message to another "computer" via the switch and a router.
We have begun our book, Escape from Pompeii - what were Tranio and Livia escaping from?
What a good start Year 4, with lots of fantastic experiences to look forward to including a trip to the Roman Baths and Ampitheatre and a fun trip learning to ice skate at Cardiff Arena!
Have a look at our Autumn Term newsletter for more information.
All the best,
Mr. Swaine
What a wonderful start to the year for Hawks class. The class have settled into their routines well and have begun a super learning journey.
In English, we began our book Revolt Against the Romans and answered comprehension questions for each chapter; we also started looking at building and improving sentences through creative stimuli.
In Maths, we have done some sterling work on place value - fundamental to our understanding of number - and have now moved onto addition and subtraction, before area and multiplication & division.
In History, we are enquiring 'What was the impact of the Romans on Britain?', and so far have looked at where the Roman Empire originated and why it became so powerful. We also went on a trip to the Roman fortress of Isca (now Caerleon), saw some ancient Roman artefacts, marched like a Roman leigon and learned all sorts of interesting facts about the local area.
Please check on Seesaw for what we are doing in class, and should you have any queries, please email me at mswaine@hamptondene.hereford.sch.uk or send me a message on Seesaw.
All the best,
Mr. Swaine
