Queenswood - 19/03/2026

Ladybirds had a lovely trip to Queenswood in the Spring sunshine and had lots of fun searching through the woodland area! We followed the Gruffalo trail spotting several familiar faces on the way and enjoyed taking part in mini games such as hide and seek, follow my echo etc at each stop. We took it in turns to look out from the view point and listened to our story back in the Yurt. After lunch, we explored the Forest School area, searching for minibeasts and making animal homes. We also had a quick play in the playground before heading back to the bus.

World Book Day 2026

We started off the day by having a key stage assembly all about World Book Day delivered by Mrs Davies. We talked about our interests and how we can use these to dive into reading. We created a story together called ‘The Castle in the Clouds’ by choosing a King, Princess, Magic Potion, Paintbrush and a Crown. We finished by Mrs Davies reading one of her favourite stories, ‘How Big is a Million?’ After assembly, we split off into groups and took part in the story hunt around school, listening to the clues and spotting the props left at each location. There were extra challenges for various stories too. In the classroom, we used watercolours to make book covers, re-told stories using objects in the puppet theatre, painted new characters, designed book vouchers, created character masks and used story prompts to make a new story. We then enjoyed choosing a book from ‘The Book Swap’ organised by the PTFA.
What a busy but very fun day!
